Meteorite Pendant in Sterling Silver - size Medium - Ready to Ship - Beth Cyr Handmade Jewelry

Meteorite Pendant in Sterling Silver - size Medium - Ready to Ship

Meteorites come in the most unusual of shapes, don't they? That's why I love them so much - only a rock from outer space that comes crashing into the earth could produce such a thing of beauty. To top it off, each meteorite fragment is different from the next, so no one will have this pendant but you. It's a lot of fun to cast these unique meteorite shapes into a metal pendant, and a lot of work, but the result is worth it. The contours of the metal softly trace the outline of the meteorite for a piece that is organic and stylish.
  • Cast in 100% recycled sterling silver with a sterling silver chain

Ever wonder what the difference is between a meteor, meteoroid and a meteorite?

A meteoroid is the space debris/particle, perhaps from an asteroid or comet

A meteor is the flash of light we see as it comes through the earth's atmosphere (shooting star) and the meteorite is what survives!

Most meteoroids are so small they can't make it through the atmosphere and are completely vaporized.

This particular meteorite was found in Argentina - the Campo del Cielo site. The crater was created an estimated 4,000 - 5,000 years ago.
