Made to Order Rings

Creating heirlooms and talismans

For most of my 20 year career as a full time artist I specialized in made to order and custom wedding rings. Over the last few years I have transitioned to other relationship based work and my artistry grew in different directions. The amount of jewelry I made was greatly reduced and at times I thought I might give it up completely.

Through some recent experiences I've reconnected with how profoundly meaningful a piece of jewelry can be, not only for the person wearing it, but also for their loved ones.

I love the lost wax casting process I use for creating rings. It is magical to create something in wax, mold it, have it vaporized in hot kiln, and fill the void with metal I melted with a torch. And it feels even more special now that I'm only creating a small batch each month.

What styles are available?

  • Simplicity - the softest, most comfortable ring - all rings are textured on a simplicity ring base, either after casting or before
  • Worn Texture - a simplicity ring, with additional tool marks added so it looks like it has been worn for years
  • Tree Bark Texture - each one is created individually in wax, the style that made my business and has always been the most popular - this texture is horizontal to the band
  • Yellow Birch texture - this bark texture is perpendicular to the band. It is softer/less textured than the regular tree bark texture
  • Simple Hammered - a traditional looking hammered ring
  • Love Rocks - a layered hammered texture - 3 different hammers that create a very unique texture that looks like granite
  • Sands - A very tiny texture, made with a very tiny tool.

What metals do you use?

  • Sterling Silver Palladium (a sterling alloy that contains a little palladium)
  • Yellow or Rose Gold - 14k or 18
  • Palladium White Gold - 14k or 18k - an alloy that contains palladium, no nickel and is not plated

Pricing, shipping, timeline, etc

The important information

  • Pricing: With fluctuating metal prices, price quotes are given and honored for 48 hours. If you plan to come back a few weeks, months or next year, it is very possible the price could be different. For Sterling Silver Palladium Rings - prices vary between $200 - $600+ and for gold rings between $800 - $3000+ Pricing depends on width, size and style.
  • Payment: A 50% deposit is required before I start working on it. Payment in full can also be made. I'll create a listing or send an invoice from my site - many payment methods can be used. Deposits are non-refundable once the metal has been ordered/work has begun.
  • Timeline: Creating the ring(s) is usually between 2 and 6 weeks. It depend on where I am in the process. If the timing is just right, I'm about to cast and the process can be quite fast. Other times I am working on different work projects the timeline may be up to 6 weeks. The timeline starts when a deposit has been made.
  • Shipping is usually USPS, though I'm flexible if you have a specific need. Insurance and tracking are included and for orders over $1000 I prefer signature required.
