Yoga - Private Sessions - In Person or Zoom
Let's Do Yoga Together!
1:1 Private Yoga Sessions
Sliding Scale: $10 - $60 per session (see below for details)

These simple, 45 minute private yoga sessions are geared towards people who already have some knowledge of yoga or may have their own practice. We would do the practice together, so this isn't as much about me instructing a new beginner, but me instructing while we flow through the practice together.
This is for individual sessions, no packages or minimum classes. Sessions at my studio may be cancelled up to 2 hours before the session with no cancellation fee. If you're sick, please cancel. Special sessions at alternative locations may require a cancellation fee depending on the circumstance.
We'll do a simple hatha yoga practice together in my studio in Port Townsend or via Zoom. I can adapt the practice to fit any particular needs (like painful or weak wrists), or any desires to work on something particular (like more balancing poses).
With a private session it allows for easy dialogue if a certain pose doesn't work well or if you have questions. It's easier to go at a pace that works for you if you want to hold a pose for longer or if you want to skip something all together, like inversions if that doesn't work for you.
I teach a fairly basic practice in the style of my trainings - Integral Yoga. This structure is followed regardless of level, the options of each type of pose can be more or less challenging and held for longer or shorter periods of time. Integral Yoga tends to be a bit more on the gentle side, more similar to Yin Yoga than Ashtanga.
In this 45 minute offering...
We would still follow the basic structure of an integral yoga class, but adjust the number of poses, the length of the holds and potentially leave some portions out. The abbreviated class may look like this:
- A few deep full breaths to arrive
- Sun salutations with warm ups intermixed
- A backbend
- A forward bend
- Inversion or not
- Spinal Twist
- Brief Yoga Nidra
- A few deep full breaths and a 1 minute meditation
The full standard 1.5 - 2 hour practice follows this structure:
- Opening the class, centering, chanting
- Warm ups
- Sun Salutations
- Optional standing poses
- Backward Bends
- Forward Bends
- Inversion
- Spinal Twist
- Yoga Nidra
- Pranayma/Breathing practices
- Brief Meditation
A full class could also be an option, but for this offering I'm focusing on a simple and efficient 45 minute practice geared towards people who may find it challenging to make it to a class at a specific time, simply don't want to go to a class, or need the care of a solo teacher as opposed to being in a room full of people.
45 minute sliding scale options
These are suggested ways to determine what feels right for a financial exchange - any amount in between is an option, this simply gives an idea of what each level may feel like.
$10 - struggle to pay bills each month
$20 - living paycheck to paycheck, but generally provided for
$30 - some extra money each month, able to help with those that need support
$40 - $60 or more - well off, never concerned with paying bills, able to take travel with ease and can support 1 or more people that have need.
Longer classes or travel to teach a private session at an alternate location would be more and on a case by case basis.
Classes can be paid via Venmo or through my site here.
My background and training
I started practicing yoga in 1998, with a VHS on yoga for reducing stress. I practiced on my own for a number of years with videos and books and started with a teacher, Manjula Spears in 2004. It was in a yurt on 20 acres of gorgeously landscaped and tended land. My dear friend Manjula was a yoga teacher trainer and a masterful yoga teacher. I took my first Beginner Yoga Training from her in 2009, a few years later the Intermediate Teacher training. I sat next to her in my advanced class for almost 14 years and would teach in her place when needed. I moved to WA in 2017 and have taken a break from teaching anyone other than my partner.
More recently I also took Meditation Teacher Training through Integral Yoga, with Swami Ramananda who runs the San Francisco Integral Yoga Institute. He and Manjula are great friends and he'd helped with our teacher trainings I had taken previously. The lineage of Integral Yoga was started by Swami Satchidananda, who had been a student of Swami Sivananda. As the name implies, Integral Yoga is more than just hatha, which is why a full class includes more than just asana/poses.
Teaching came very easily to me as it was integrated so deeply in to my life and it is a way I can offer support and community to others that want something more than just practicing on their own.
